Tata has unveiled a new budget hatchback, all set to be launched in India before Auto Expo 2016, New Delhi. The Tata Zica, previously referred to as the Tata Kite hatchback (codename), is slated for launch in India in the first week of January.
Tata Motors released the first pictures of the Tata Zica and also revealed its features and specifications. Scheduled to be launched in the first half of January 2016, the Tata Zica is designed with inputs from Tata Motors’ three design studios – Pune, UK and Italy. The vehicle is the third all-new product under Tata Motors’ HorizoNext product strategy, after Bolt and Zest.
The front features a honeycomb grille and inverted design headlamp with halogen lamps. The prominent shoulder line resembles the Ford Figo. Zica rides on the largest tyres in the segment – 175/65 R14.
The familiar two-tone black and beige colour with piano back accents, already seen in the Zest and the Bolt looks classy. The multifunction steering wheel is also carried forward. The Harman infotainment is also expected. The boot space is 240 L. The higher end variant will also feature chrome and silver detailing along with alloy wheels. There are 22 storage units. It will also get the latest-generation Electric Power Steering (EPS) unit.
It gets HARMAN-developed infotainment and audio acoustics system that has USB, iPod, Aux and Bluetooth audio support. The Zica also gets 8-speakers and speed dependent volume control. In addition to the infotainment system, the Zica gets segment-first applications like the Turn-by-Turn navigation app and the Juke-car app.
